Overview

Hall Flowmeter/Flow Meter AS-300 series are designed and manufactured to determine both flow characteristics (Hall Flow rate) and apparent density of free-flowing metallic powders as well as other powders in various particle size distributions with calibrated hall flow meter funnel (Orifice Diameter 01 inch/2.5 mm) according to International Standard ISO 4490 Metallic powders; Determination of flowability by means of a calibrated funnel (Hall flow meter).

AS-300 Hall Flow Meter/Funne 
 
Principle
Hall Flowmeter/Flow Meter AS-300 measures the hall flow of powders by the time taken by 50 gram of powders to pass standard funnel orifice designed in specific diameter according to relevant international norms.Such method is invented by E.J.Hall in 1945.With Hall flow funnel user can measure the flow rate as well as the apparent density of free-flowing powders.With Carney funnels user can only determine the apparent density of free-flowing powders.

 

 
Apparatus
● Hall Flowmeter/Flow Meter Funnel
Diameter of calibrated orifice is 0.1 inch/2.5mm. Hall funnel is made of stainless steel/brass with enough thickness and harness to prevent transformation and resist excessive corrosion of wear and tear. Hall funnel is used to determine the flow rate of metallic powders or other finely distributed powders which can freely flow through such orifice. It completely meets ISO4490, ISO3923-1, ASTM B 213, MPIF 4.
 
 
 

● Stand, base and collector
Stand is used to fix the funnel. Base is where stand and collector are installed and placed. Before test adjust the base until firm and horizontal without any vibration. Adjust the working height and fix with spanner, put the funnel on the stand. Put the collector on the base for powder collection.
● Balance
A balance suitable for weighing at least 50.0 g to the nearest 0.1 g.
● Stopwatch
To the accuracy of 0.1 second
● Density cup (25cc)
A stainless steel density cup (25cc) is provided in order to determine the apparent density of powders according to International Norm ISO3923/1 Metallic Powders-Determination of Apparent Density-Part I: Funnel Method or other relevant international norms.
● Carney Funnel (determine apparent density of non-free-flowing powders)
Diameter of calibrated orifice is 0.2 inch/5 mm. Carney funnel is made of stainless steel/brass with enough thickness and hardness to prevent transformation and resist excessive force of wear or tear. Carney funnel is used to determine the apparent density of metallic powders or other fine bulk powders which can not freely flow through standard Hall funnel (Dia 0.1 inch/2.5 mm). It completely meets ISO4490, ISO3923/1, ASTM B 417 and MPIF 28.
● Standardized Calibrating Powder/Chinese Emery Grit
The calibrating powder is used in calibration of the apparatus and then supplied as well in order to check the accuracy of the Hall Flow Meter. It is recommended that the flow rate be checked periodically, at least every six months, using the procedure outlined in relevant international Standards.

Apparent density-powders do not freely pass through the funnel (Diameter 0.1 in/2.5 mm), but do pass through Carney Funnel (Diameter 0.2 in/5mm).
Apparent density-powders fail to freely pass through the funnel orifice either Diameter 0.1 in/2.5 mm or Diameter 0.1 in/2.5 mm, user has to use AS-200 Scott Volumeter.
The applications of hall flow meter include powder metallurgy, metallic powders, food powders, cement powders, plastic powders, rubber powders, ceramic powders, pharmaceutical powders etc.
